tangled
Hi.
writing this blog post makes me feel guilty for not writing before. I feel like I entered a room full of people who stare at me, almost intimidatingly as I walk down the hallway with my head lowered (too dramatic I believe? Nevermind.).
It sure has been so long since the last time I managed to type my thoughts on this blog. for today's entry, I am afraid, I have no topic or update to talk about. My thoughts have tangled and have managed to make a little mess out of themselves that I carry in my head. Entangled, because of the series of various events that have took place in the last 3 months in my life. I have so many things to write. So much so, I cannot prioritize which one's to write first.
For the purpose of romanticism, I like to treat my life as a show, with no genre. Season 1 of this show is to end soon. Season 2 is not faraway. I am very content to enter this new chapter. But I must mention that I am sad to see Season 1 end. It already stretched. Many characters entered the season in the last few episodes and left too. Left so soon. Some characters are staying till the very end. There are a few constants. Season 2 will make me, the protagonist, witness so many more experiences, feelings and characters. It's nerve-wracking (but also exciting).
Also, I just recalled something to talk about. Have you ever wondered why there are some hobbies which are just so widespread? It is easy to find a child with a hobby to dance, but difficult to find one with an interest in acroyoga (yeah I do not what that means, either)? Why are hobbies such as reading, writing, singing or painting so common in today's society? I have probably met hundreds of people in my lifetime until now, but I have not been able to recall a single person who had a hobby no one else had? What are the chances of finding someone with an interest in butterfly watching (well, that does not sound very interesting to me)? Is it the easy access of books, paints, or neighborhood dance classes which increase the the frequency of people pursuing these hobbies? Who would have an interest in photography back in the time when smartphones with high quality cameras were not a thing, and cameras were only available to a few for commercial reasons? Do you find people with an interest in calligraphy nowadays?
Hobbies, I think are interests that man discovers or invents with gradual progress with society. The tools of photography are now so easily available that people keep it as an interest. Some hobbies may have died with time in the past. And maybe some are yet to come, in the future. Not everyone likes dancing, singing, writing, reading or sports. The question is what do they like?
I would like someone to declare thinking as a hobby. Because that really is all I do in my free-time. Some hobbies, like writing, I believe, have passed onto generations and generations. Perhaps because they have been monetized. You sure as hell, cannot monetize golfing (or wait.. I just searched the world wide web, they have golfing Olympics. Imagine) Some hobbies may die with their decreased potential of being monetized like reading. But reading and writing go hand in hand. People will write, they'll earn money and since because there is so much matter and literature to read, would readers hold back? Like some people may like knife collecting. But no one gives them money to collect those. (Rather, the hobbyist has to spend money to collect things).
In addition, the financial spend a hobby requires may have a huge role in the widespread of certain hobbies. Music is commonly and easily available. Books are not extremely expensive. Dancing and singing are hobbies easily seen in the media, films and books. So why would these not be so widespread?
I am sure there are so many aspects still left to unfold in this matter. This is merely My Thought Traffic.
for the curious: list of possibly every hobby
